Wholesale Grades and Standards

Unless otherwise stated or specifically agreed at the point of sale and documented on the proforma invoice, the standards below will apply.

Devices are sold in pre-batched bulk orders, not as individual items. The grades below describe the condition mix a buyer can expect within a batch, not a per-unit purchase option.

Best for: trade and volume buyers with the capability to sort, repair or resell
General Information – All Grades

The following information applies to all grades unless specifically stated otherwise at the point of sale and documented on the proforma invoice:

  • Batteries: battery health, performance and capacity is not guaranteed and may vary between devices.
  • Storage: HDD and SSD health is not guaranteed unless specifically stated at the point of sale and documented on the proforma invoice.
  • Device locks: device lock status is outside the standard wholesale grading process unless specifically stated at the point of sale and documented on the proforma invoice.
Where a removable device lock is identified, removal may be available as an additional paid service.
Where a non-removable lock prevents normal use or resale, an appropriate credit may be considered based on the difference between the expected sales value and the recoverable parts value.
  • BIOS locks are outside the standard wholesale grading process unless specifically stated at the point of sale and documented on the proforma invoice. Where a BIOS password is identified and cannot be removed, an appropriate deduction or credit may be considered based on its impact on the device's resale value.
  • Devices that fail to power on or exhibit a material undisclosed fault on first inspection should be reported within 5 working days of receipt.
A

Grade A

Higher-quality used devices - good to excellent overall condition, limited signs of previous use.

Grade A devices are used products in good to excellent overall condition, with only limited signs of previous use. This grade is designed for customers seeking higher-quality used equipment with a strong balance of condition, functionality and resale value.

Exterior Condition

Grade A devices may show light signs of normal previous use, including:

  • Minor scuffs, scratches and general wear marks.
  • Small chips or minor dents to edges, corners or the underside, provided structural integrity is not affected.
  • Light keyboard or palm-rest shine.
  • Minor wear to keyboard lettering where the keys remain fully functional.
  • All keys will be present and functional.
Screen Condition

Displays should generally be clean and fully usable. The following may be present where they do not materially affect everyday use:

  • Minor surface marks or light scratches.
  • Keyboard or keycap impressions.
  • One or two minor dead pixels.
  • Small white spots or minor areas of discolouration.
Functionality

Grade A devices will be fully functional, unless a specific exception has been disclosed at the point of sale and documented on the proforma invoice.

  • All core functions and ports should operate as expected.
  • Minor cosmetic damage around ports is permitted where functionality is unaffected.
  • Slight hinge stiffness or minor hinge wear may be present where normal operation is not affected.
B

Grade B

Value-focused mixed-condition wholesale stock with minimum 80% - Fair Condition.

Grade B is particularly suited to experienced trade buyers with the capability to test, sort, repair or refurbish devices before resale.

Grade B consists of used devices supplied in mixed-condition wholesale lots. Pricing reflects the expected condition mix across the complete lot. Grade B is assessed at lot level rather than on an individual-device basis.

A minimum of 80% of devices will be fully operational with normal-to-moderate cosmetic wear, while up to 20% may show heavier cosmetic wear and/or repairable functional issues in line with the criteria below.

Minimum 80% of the Lot is Visually in Good Condition

Devices within this lot may show:

Exterior Condition
  • Normal-to-moderate signs of previous use, including scratches, scuffs, pressure marks, small dents and general wear.
  • Minor cracks or chips where structural integrity and normal use are not materially affected.
  • Security-mark or asset-label removal marks where known and disclosed at the point of sale and documented on the proforma invoice.
  • Keyboard and palm-rest shine.
  • All keys will be present and functional.
Screen Condition
  • Displays are fully usable.
  • Light scratches, keyboard marks and keycap impressions may be present.
  • Minor white spots, pressure marks, discolouration or isolated dead pixels may be present where normal everyday use is not materially affected.
Keys and Ports
  • All keys will be present and functional.
  • Ports required for normal operation will be functional.
  • Where a device has multiple ports of the same type, an individual non-functional port may be permitted provided sufficient equivalent ports remain available for normal use.
  • Cosmetic damage around ports is permitted where functionality is unaffected.
Functionality
  • Devices will power on and operate normally.
  • Core functionality will be operational.
  • Slight hinge wear, stiffness or minor cosmetic hinge damage may be present where the device remains fully usable.

Up to 20% of the Lot - heavier condition

Up to 20% of devices within a Grade B lot may require additional repair, refurbishment or cosmetic work.

These devices may include:

  • Heavy scratching, dents, casing damage or significant cosmetic wear.
  • Cracked or broken plastics requiring repair.
  • Missing, damaged or non-functional individual keys.
  • Multiple non-functional ports.
  • Hinge damage requiring repair.
  • More significant screen defects, including white spots, pressure marks, screen lines, dead pixels, scratches or discolouration.
  • Other minor-to-moderate functional defects where the device retains meaningful repair, refurbishment, parts or resale value.

Completely shattered displays, severe liquid damage, hazardous batteries, substantial structural damage or substantially incomplete devices fall outside the standard Grade B specification unless specifically disclosed and agreed at the point of sale and documented on the proforma invoice.

Grade B Claims and Returns

Grade B is assessed against the condition of the complete supplied lot. The permitted 20% allowance forms part of the Grade B specification. Individual devices falling within this heavier-wear or repair category are therefore considered to be within specification and do not, on their own, constitute grounds for a condition-based claim.

Where the proportion of devices falling into this category exceeds 20% of the supplied lot, the buyer should contact us and provide:

  • Serial numbers of the affected devices.
  • Details of the fault or condition issue for each affected device.
  • Photographs, test results or other reasonable supporting evidence where requested.

Devices with an issue specifically disclosed at the point of sale and documented on the proforma invoice are not eligible for a claim based on that same issue.

Individual lower-condition devices cannot be selectively returned while better-condition devices from the same lot are retained.

Where the agreed 20% tolerance is exceeded, any return, credit or other remedy will normally relate only to the quantity exceeding the agreed tolerance, unless otherwise agreed.

Battery health, battery capacity and HDD/SSD health are excluded from standard Grade B condition claims unless specifically guaranteed at the point of sale and documented on the proforma invoice.

Returns Process

Before any return is sent to Foxway, the original asset list and the total agreed sales price must be confirmed and agreed with Foxway.

C

Grade C

Significant wear with repair and resale potential.

Grade C provides an attractive option for customers with repair, refurbishment or parts capabilities who are looking for greater value at the lower end of the used-device market.

Grade C devices are individually graded and may show significant cosmetic wear and/or functional defects, but should retain meaningful repair, refurbishment, parts or resale value. Unlike Grade B mixed-condition lots, Grade C does not carry an expectation that a minimum percentage of the lot will meet a fully working cosmetic standard, but they generally retain core functionality, but individual components may require repair or replacement.

Grade C devices may show:

Exterior Condition
  • Evident signs of previous use and visible wear.
  • Pronounced scratches, scuffs or wear through to bare metal.
  • Cracks, broken plastics, dents and casing damage.
  • Moderate-to-heavy exterior damage.
  • Worn, faint, damaged or missing keyboard lettering.
Screen Condition
  • Clearly visible keyboard and keycap marks.
  • Dead pixels, white spots, pressure marks or areas of discolouration.
  • Scratches affecting the viewing area.
  • Screen lines or other display defects.
  • Cracks or chips to the display.
Functionality
  • Non-functional individual ports, keys or other components.
  • Multiple non-functional components.
  • Repairable functional issues.
  • Missing or non-functional individual keys.
  • Additional known faults disclosed at the point of sale and documented on the proforma invoice.
